Shuhei Yoshida, a former producer at Sony and president of SIE Worldwide Studios, shares his thoughts on the absence of aBloodborneupdate.

Bloodborne Remake: Could it Happen Soon?

Bloodbornefor PlayStation 4 remains one of the most requested titles among fans to receive some form of enhancement—whether unlocking 60 FPS, improving resolution, or even getting a full remake like Demon’s Souls.

Yoshida, who once served as the president of SIE Worldwide Studios, officially left the company yesterday, as previously announced. A well-known figure in the gaming industry, he gave an interview on the Kinda Funny podcast, where he discussed various topics. Naturally, the question of Bloodborne came up during the conversation.

Why Doesn’t Bloodborne Have a Remaster or Remake?

The former executive shared his opinion, suggesting that the absence of updates might be tied to director Hidetaka Miyazaki’s affection for this gothic soulslike. “People wonder why we haven’t done something [with Bloodborne],”

Yoshida said, offering his theory: “I remember how much Miyazaki loved Bloodborne. I think he’s interested, but he’s so successful [with other games] and so busy that he can’t do it himself, and he doesn’t want others to touch it. That’s my theory. And the PlayStation team respects his wishes. That’s what I think. I’m not revealing any secret information.”

Bloodborne Turns 10 This Year

Miyazaki himself mentioned in 2019 that Bloodborne was his favorite game: “It’s the project where I poured all of my focus. I think I made it exactly the way I wanted,” he stated.

However, over the years, Miyazaki hasn’t appeared opposed to a remaster or PC version, simply stating that such decisions rest with Sony. For instance, a year ago, he commented: “FromSoftware doesn’t own the intellectual property. Personally, it was a major project for me, and I have many fond memories of the game, but we can’t freely talk about it.”
