With the recent release of patch 7.2,Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrailhas seen a good number of changes and additions. The one everyone has been waiting for is the new raid series, but there is still more content for the everyday user. This includes new mounts, minions, of course, emotes. While most of them are new, Square Enix has gone back and revitalized some of the older emotes to be more user-friendly.

An overemphasized new emote has become the most talked about subject in Final Fantasy XIV.
What is the Study Emote?
The Study emote is a modified version of the Read emote. While the original Read emote was introduced inFinal Fantasy XIVall the way back inShadowbringers, one of the big complaints was that it wasn’t looping. You would use the emote, and it would stop after a few seconds. For players who enjoy idling or rpleplaying, this was not the most ideal of emotes: something that would have to be reactivated over and over again.
Thankfully, Square Enix has finally recognized this and made the Read emote fully loopable in the form of a separate emote.

Where to Find the Study Emote
You will need access to The Firmament. This requires the player to have completed the Heavenswards expansion (specifically, the completion of Litany of Peace). At this point, you are able to start the “Towards the Firmament” side quest found in theFoundation (x9.6 Y: 11.5). This will set you off on a number of quests until you’re able to turn in various items you have crafted for a localCollectible Appraiser, Potkin.
During the Shadowbringers expansion, The Firmament was a bustling location for crafters and gatherers as they competed against other servers in their trade skills. Unfortunately, The Firmament was officially completed back in the expansion after a couple of updates, so these leaderboards and specialty titles are no longer available.

Fortunately, what is available are the items. Turning in collectible items will grant you not only stamps for Kupo vouchers, butSkybuilders’ Scripswhich can be exchanged with Enie for various items. This includes mounts, minions, hairstyles, music, and, as you might have guessed it, emotes. The Study and Read emotes are under the “Ballroom Etiquette – Intelligent Impressions” manual that can be purchased for1,800 Skybuilders’ Scrips.
All you need to do is save enough Scrips, exchange them for the illustrated manual, and use it to gain access to the now looping emote. Alternatively, you can also get it in the random Fête events that happen in The Firmament.
