Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Looks Back While Moving Forward
Assassin’s Creedis a Ubisoft franchise that has done it all. It continues releasing new entries likeMirage or Shadows, but also looks back to remaster classics likeAssassin’s Creed III.
The game starring Connor Kenway was re-released on PC and consoles back in 2019. It’s been a few years since then, and for many months now, we’ve been hearing rumors about an enhanced return of the next title.
Part of this was due to various Ubisoft developer LinkedIn profiles, even though the original rumor surfaced two years ago—and since then, there’s only been silence.
Matt Ryan Teases Something New
That brings us to some recent comments from Matt Ryan, the voice actor known for portraying the pirate/assassin Edward Kenway, among many other roles.
Ryan attended a fan convention recently and said a couple of things to attendees. While nothing is officially confirmed by his words, it seems like he may have teased an announcement for theBlack Flag remake.
“Have you finished the game?… Well, you might have to complete it again,” he said—adding, “There’s a reason I’m saying this, but I can’t talk any further.”
Thanks to a video posted on TikTok by@therebelarchive, we can hear nearly two minutes of the interaction.
It’s also being said that theAssassin’s Creed IV: Black Flagremake will feature various gameplay changes, more wildlife, and an updated graphical style.
Now all that’s left is for the project to be revealed—though many fans were expecting to see it at Ubisoft’s traditional Forward event in June.
Is the AC IV: Black Flag Remake Imminent?
However, the 2025 event was canceled, and the developer stated it would only participate in select events as it explores “opportunities to share updates.”
Since the project didn’t appear atSummer Game Fest, State of Play, or the Xbox Games Showcase,the only option left is to hope they show it sometime in the coming months.
But for now, don’t let Matt Ryan’s words as pirate/assassin Edward Kenway raise your hopes too much—because theAssassin’s Creed IV: Black Flagremake is still unconfirmed.
