A recent source has shared information stating that a subsidiary of Activision called Vicarious Visions is working on the remaster of Diablo 2.

Rumour: Diablo 2 Remaster In Development

The French websiteActugamingsays that sources say a subsidiary of Activision called Vicarious Visions is currently working on the remaster for Diablo 2 Resurrected, set to release in the fourth quarter of this year. The editor of the website, made predictions onDiablo 4, Shadowlands and Overwatch 2 before they were announced publicly at Blizzcon last year, making their words a little more believable than most. Vicarious Visions also worked on the PC port for Destiny 2, as well as Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy remasters, which doesn’t make a Diablo 2 Remaster under this company to be too unbelievable.

Hopefully if this is true, they will have more luck than the recent release of another Blizzard title, Warcraft 3 which received some dismal userscores after being not exactly well received. But fans have been asking for a remastered version of Diablo 2 since StafCraft: Remastered was announced. According to design lead David Brevik, he shared this may be a little difficult for Blizzard to do as “I don’t believe a lot of the assets survived.”

Blizzard hasn’t really had a good track record recently, we only have to remember the announcement forDiablo Immortal, the mobile game to remember the shudders of that unveiling. Hopefully Blizzard has learnt from past mistakes, with a promising Shadowlands expansion on the way providing some hope. Could this be a turn around year for them? Let’s hope so.

So far there is no official word from Blizzard on this rumour but we will keep you posted with any updates. Are you excited for a Diablo 2 Remaster? Let us know in the comments below.
