Overwatch 2and the legendary anime series Gundam Wing are crossing over for a limited-time event. Bandai Namco Entertainment and the art team of Blizzard Entertainment have worked together closely on this collaboration with Mercy as Wing Zero, Rammatra as Epyon, and Soldier: 76 as Tallgeese. Reaper is also cosplaying as Deathscythe, fittingly.

Gundam Combines Forces

You can now purchase the Wing Gundam Zero (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz), Gundam Epyon (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing), Gundam Deathscythe Hell (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz) and Tallgeese (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing) outfits from the in-game store.

They are available in a bundle for 5,900 Overwatch Coins. Otherwise, you can get the individual bundles for the skins at 2,800 Overwatch Coins each. It seems to be a better deal to get all four. Each of the characters also has a highlight intro inspired by the Gundam heroes/villains they represent. The Gundam event ends on May 13.

This Isn’t the Only Collab

This Gundam event is part of a long string of collabs that Overwatch 2 has orchestrated. It has incorporated multiple anime properties, including My Hero Academia, One Punch Man, and Cowboy Bebop. It’s cute to see Tracer cosplaying as Deku, freckles included. Additionally, you can play as Reinhardt in an Optimus Prime skin inspired by the Transformers franchise. Even a car brand has jumped into the Overwatch 2 hype train with skins inspired by Porsche. Most of the skins are cool for fans of the properties that Overwatch 2 collaborates with, despite theAll Might Reinhardt outfit looking kinda creepy.

Running and gunning doesn’t get better than this!

Some have been disappointed by Overwatch collabing with other properties, however. During the original game, Blizzard made a lot of interesting skins for the characters that made sense with the world the characters are from. It also brought in cultural aspects of the countries that each hero or villain comes from. It feels somewhat cheap to the original experience to include skins from other franchises as tie-ins. It feels similar to Fortnite’s strategy of including whatever IP the game can get its hands on.

Overwatch Rainy Day Mei Skin

There are also Twitch drops to look out for. Back in February, there were rainy day-themed outfits that hadMercy, Mei, and Kiriko in fabulous rain coats. The Twitch drops revolved around Mei and if you watched 12 hours of a streamer, you’d get her rainy day legendary skin for free. Right now, you can get the Ice Princess Symettra skin for watching an Overwatch 2 stream for nine hours. Make sure the streamer has drops on.

A Disappointing Sequel?

Overwatch 2 has had a rough go at it since its launch in 2023. The game was initially supposed to have a campaign attached to it after release but it was then scrapped. Additionally, the 5v5 format reduced the team compositions that players could make. There was alimited-time 6v6 modebut that has come to pass.

Overwatch 2 has a 77 Top Critic average score onOpenCritic.

Marvel Rivalshas been a major competitor for Overwatch 2 as it now has over 23,000 viewers on Twitch as of the time of writing. Overwatch 2, in comparison, has rebounded with over 45,000 viewers.
