Poker Facehas rapidly emerged as one of 2023’s must-watch shows. The murder-mystery-of-the-week series, created by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Rian Johnson, is reminiscent of the beloved detective series of yesteryear. It boasts incredible acting talent, withNatasha Lyonnein the lead as Charlie Cale, a woman in hiding traveling through the states who happens to stumble upon a fresh murder every episode. To solve these mysteries, Cale relies on unusual talent: the “human lie detector” can spot when anyone is lying.
Just likeColumbo, which inspired Johnson forPoker Face, the series relies on new guest stars every episode.Poker Face’s all-star guest list includes the likes of Stephanie Hsu, Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lil Rel Howery, Ellen Barkin, and Chloe Sevigny, among others. During an appearance on Bravo’sWatch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Lyonne was asked who she had found most intimidating to work with during the first season of the series:

“I would say the episode that I co-wrote with Alice Ju and directed Nick Nolte. It’s coming up. It’s episode eight. And he was an intimidating but terrific guy. Because we’re both troublemakers, so we speak of the same English.”
Nolte is a Golden Globe Winner and three-time Academy Award-nominated actor, best known for his appearances in films includingThe Prince of Tides, Affliction, andWarrior.Nolte was also nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for the 1976 miniseriesRich Man, Poor Man. Up next, he is scheduled to star in two films:Eugene the MarineandShelter Me.
