During itsXbox Games Showcaseat Summer Games Fest in June, Microsoft officially announced its entry into the handheld gaming market with theROG Xbox Allyand ROG Xbox Ally X, two new devices developed in partnership with Asus.
If you’ve seen an Asus ROG Ally orROG Ally Xbefore, they are similar to those handhelds but feature a new grip design identical to that of an Xbox controller and have a dedicated Xbox button next to the left thumbstick. Microsoft revealed all the specs for both its new gaming handhelds in June, along with an expected release date of “Holiday 2025.” However, one significant detail it didn’t disclose yet was the pricing.

Now, pricing has leaked for both models ahead of an official announcement from Xbox or Asus. The leak is from none other than Asus itself, which accidentally revealed the European pricing for both the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, through listings that were put up early by accident on the Asus Store, as first spotted by3djuegos(viaDigital Trends).
The ROG Xbox Ally was listed for 599 euros (about $700) and the top-spec ROG Xbox Ally X for 899 euros (about $1,050).

ROG Xbox Ally X
Microsoft just announced the Xbox handheld I’ve always wanted
After months of rumors, Microsoft and Asus have finally revealed the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X.
Those prices will leave a hefty dent in your wallet
The ROG Xbox Ally X could be double the price of the Switch 2
If the ROG Xbox Ally X costs more than $1,000, many gamers might hesitate to purchase the device immediately. While it features impressive hardware, including an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage, $1,050 is twice the price of the Switch 2 (which costs $450) and nearly double the price of the Steam Deck OLED (which starts at $549). The ROG Ally X costs $900, so the Xbox version would be $100 more if this pricing leak is accurate.
While the ROG Xbox Ally potentially costing $700 is more affordable, its specifications are less powerful than the Ally X version. It features an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. For reference, theAsus ROG Allycurrently available costs $650.

It’s important to note that these leaked prices are based on current currency exchange rates for the Euro and USD, so by the time the Xbox Asus handhelds launch this holiday season, prices could change. It’s also possible that these devices will cost more in Europe than in the US. Nonetheless, this leaked pricing gives us a good idea of the price range gamers can expect if they want Xbox’s premier gaming handhelds.
As a PC gamer myself, I was really excited about the ROG Xbox Ally X given its high-end hardware, but if it’s over $1,000, I don’t know if I can justify it, especially since the regularROG Ally Xstill exists and could go on sale for much lower.
I wasn’t expecting the ROG Ally X to outshine the Steam Deck quite this much
Both gaming handhelds have specific strengths and weaknesses, but generally, the ROG Ally X reigns supreme.
