The latest version ofGenshin Impactis finally upon us, and with that, there is tons of new content to explore, characters to try out, and quests to finish. Sadly, like other miHoYo titles, actually updating the game can be very frustrating, especially because of its unreliable launcher. To get around that, here is how you can manually update to Genshin Impact 4.8.
Manually Update to Genshin Impact 4.8
Manually downloading the necessary patch files allows users to reduce interaction with the launcher. This way, players can use the download manager of their choice. We don’t privately host these files, and the links provided are the same ones the launcher uses to communicate with the miHoYo servers.
Note:This guide assumes thatGenshin Impactis currently atversion 4.7on your PC
Genshin Impact 4.8 Patch Files
First, download the patch files for version 4.8, and make sure you’re using a third-party download manager instead of your browser. Download one file at a time to avoid corruption.
Youneed the Patch file, andat least one audio file pack. ensure to download the audio pack corresponding to your Windows default language.
With the files downloaded, we can update the game toversion 4.8.
Step 1: Update HoYoPlay
Run HoYoPlay, and it will automatically update the launcher to the latest version. you’re able to also check for updates in the launcher’s settings followed by Check for Updates.
Step 2: Initiate Update and Pause It
Now, click theUpdatebutton and pause it after a few seconds.
Step 3: Quit the Launcher Completely
verify the launcher isn’t running in the background. Close it completely, and check if it’s running in the taskbar.
Step 4: Delete the Chunk Folder in the Genshin Impact Game
Head over to where Genshin Impact is installed on your PC. The default location in most cases is the following:
In theGenshin Impact Gamefolder, delete theChunkfolder. This contains the partial download.
Step 5: Paste Zip Files in the Genshin Impact Game Folder
Copy all the zip files you downloaded, including the 4.7 patch file and any audio packs. Paste these in the Genshin Impact Game folder at the following location or wherever you have the game installed.
Step 6: Run the Launcher and Update
After you have placed the files, simply open the launcher and click on theUpdatebutton to apply the latest patch. If you followed the steps correctly, the launcher should say “Pre-Installation Done“.
Now, make sure you don’t extract the files yourself, especially until the update is live. If you do that, you won’t have access tillJuly 17, 2024.
