You are able to find go up to little fishing holes to throw in a rod and reel in order to earn some of the biggest fish available.

What is the Goldenfish?
The Goldenfish is part of a side quest calledSeeking the Goldenfishaccepted from Kanya in the home base camp in the Scarlet Forest. Once you’ve completed Fishing: Life, in Microcosm near the early stages of the campaign, she will eventually have a new quest for you to pick up. She will ask you to track down a Goldenfish, one that will help you test out your new Lure function.
This is one of the very few quests that Kanya gives you to set you along on your fishing journey, and one that is important given the nature of the lure. Still, finding the Goldenfish isn’t as easy as it sounds as it can be in any pond.

Where to Find the Goldenfish
The illusive Goldenfish is found in a very specific part of the Scarlet Forest. This is one of the very few non-combat-related side quests you’ll pick up from an NPC, so it’s a nice change of pace as a relaxing adventure.
Scarlet Forest is a pretty large location to look for a Goldenfish, but there is one area that you’ll need to look for to obtain it. The specific portion of the map you’re looking for is area 8. Ironically, this is a pretty dry location in comparison, similar to areas 12 and 13, so you wouldn’t expect this to be an ideal spot to catch a Goldenfish.
Once you’ve arrived atarea 8, you’ll want to head into a little cave behind the waterfall. There will be a pop-up camp you can set up to make this an easily accessible location. Around the corner from the campsite is a surprisingly large pond that you can fish in, one that has the Goldenfish.
You are able to take out the fishing rod on the Radial Menu, and select theGolden Bugheadlure you got from Kanya with the scroll wheel, or RB/R1. Cast the line into the water with RMB and LMB (or LT/L2 and RT/R2 if you’re on controller) and try to lure the first with a couple of tugs. Once the Goldenfish bites, quickly reel it in with LMB (RT/R2) and you have yourself the quest item.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to actually use the rod and reel for fishing, if you have theCapture Net, you may simply aim it into the pod and fire the net at a fish to capture it. It’s actually far faster but less fun. Regardless, once you have the fish, head back to Kanya for your reward.
