Bethesda announces the next-gen update for Fallout 4 will now be released in 2024.
Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Pushed to 2024
The highly anticipated next-gen update for Fallout 4 has now been pushed to 2024. Bethesda has shared in a post on X (Twitter) that they “need a bit more time” for the update, and players can “look forward to an exciting return to the Commonwealth in 2024”.
The next-gen update was first announced by the developer for Fallout 4back in 2022, with an expected arrival in 2023. We are almost at the end of 2023 with no signs it was coming this month, it’s not too much of a surprise.
Next-Gen Update
The update will be for platforms PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It will add a performance mode for enhanced framerates and a quality mode for 4K visuals. There will also be some bugs fixes and more content added to the Creation Club. The Creation Club is the official mod support system for Fallout 4.

Bethesda’s open-world role-playing game, set in a post-apocalyptic universe, was initially released in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Ourreviewgave it an 8.7 for its “much improved gunplay” but the “lack of RPG elements and mild graphical issues within the game” brought down the score slightly.
Future Fallout
The next entry in the Fallout series is still quite some time away, there is still the upcomingFallout TV showthat is currently being made by Prime Video. This series is set to release on April 12th 2024. Maybe the update will arrive to coincide with the series release? Todd Howard has saidFallout 5 would be after the release of Elder Scrolls 6. So while there is some Fallout coming next year, we’ll be waiting a while longer for a new entry update.
