This year marks a big milestone forWorld of Warcraft. The game first launched on July 11, 2025, making August 02, 2025 the game’s 20th anniversary. Over the years, World of Warcraft has seen ten major expansion packs that have introduced 13 playable classes, more than 50 raids, 150 dungeons and over 1,000 mounts.
Now Blizzard is gearing up to celebrate World of Warcraft’s anniversary with its biggest in-game plans to date. The 20th Anniversary Event, which is set to take place from November through December, promises both brand-new content and old content that’s been revamped specifically for the anniversary. Here’s what we know so far.

9Updated Event Hub
Caverns of Time to Get Anniversary Makeover
At the heart of the anniversary celebration is the event hub, which will be located right outside the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. Past anniversary events have put the quest givers, vendors and events deep within the Caverns of Time, which involved maneuvering your way down a long and winding tunnel, so this hub is looking to be much easier to get to.
The hub promises a number of new activities, all of which will earn you event-specific currency to trade in for rewards like transmogs and mounts. Caverns of Time activities, available to characters level 15 and above, will include:

8New Currency
Bronze Celebration Tokens Will Earn You Rewards
Completing activities and killing special bosses during the 20th anniversary event will reward you with an event-specific currency, Bronze Celebration Tokens. Storekeeper Reginald, located within the Caverns of Time celebration hub, will be the go-to vendor for exchanging these tokens.
World of Warcraft: 6 New Features in The War Within Expansion
Before diving into the world of Khaz Algar, here’s what you should know about World of Warcraft’s newest expansion.
Among the rewards you’ll be able to earn are new pets and toys, special anniversary Warcraft crests, a transmog set inspired by Blizzard’s employee service rewards and a Blue Armored Phoenix mount. Also available will be returning anniversary items like the Core Hound Chain, Lil' Nefarian, Molten Corgi and Onyxian Whelpling.

7Return to Blackrock Depths
Reimagined with Updated Graphics
One of the highlights of the anniversary event is the return of Blackrock Depths. The beloved dungeon from classic era is being reimagined as a 10-to-15-player raid which includes new models for old bosses like High Interrogator Gerstahn, Emperor Dagran Thaurissan and Princess Moira Bronzebeard.
The restructured raid will include eight main bosses and five mini bosses in total. You’ll be able to queue for Blackrock Depths in the group finder or form your own groups for Normal and Heroic raid difficulties.

6Redesigned Tier 2 Sets
A Throwback to Game’s Classic Era
In the spirit of honoring the game’s classic era, World of Warcraft’s anniversary event will prominently feature redesigned Tier 2 class sets. Tier 2 sets were originally drops from Blackwing Lair (with a piece each from Onyxia’s Lair and Molten Core); here, you’ll be able to purchase these sets with the previously-mentioned Bronze Celebration Tokens.
There will be 13 class sets available in total, including newly designed sets for classes that weren’t available at the time of Tier 2’s original release (Death Knights, Demon Hunters, Monks and Evokers). For the classes thatwerearound for Tier 2, updated graphics and features breathe new life into popular sets like Paladin’s Judgement Armor and Druid’s Stormrage Raiment. Each set is a total of 9 pieces, including a cloak.

5New Timewalking Event
Revisit the Classics
Timewalking events themselves are not new to World of Warcraft; we’ve seen Timewalking events regularly for expansions from The Burning Crusade to Legion. We’ve never been able to revisit Classic WoW dungeons in their original forms via Timewalking before, however, until now.
World Of Warcraft: 8 New Mounts In The War Within And How To Get Them
The War Within is here, and that means there’s bound to be a new mount you’ll want to add to your collection.
The Timewalking system will be updated with the anniversary event to include Classic Timewalking. You’ll be able to queue up via the Adventure Journal or Group Finder to revisit dungeons like Deadmines, Zul’Farrak, Dire Maul and Stratholme. And of course with a new Timewalking event will come new Timewalking rewards. Some of the new rewards include the Enchanted Spellweave Carpet (from Wrath of the Lich King), Amani Hunting Bear (from The Burning Brusade) and Frayfeather Hippogryph (from Classic WoW).
4Old World Bosses Return
Stop Familiar Faces From Crashing the Party
Some old faces are coming to crash the anniversary party, and it’s your job to stop them. World bosses from World of Warcraft’s past – including Doomwalker, Azuregos, Lord Kazzak and the Sha of Anger – will return during the anniversary event.
You’ll be able to join in on defeating these bosses starting at level 15, in exchange for new rewards and of course, Bronze Celebration Tokens.
3Korrak’s Revenge
Return to Alterac Valley
Return to Alterac Valley with Korrak’s Revenge, a PvP event that will be available during the 20th anniversary event. As an added bonus: By completing the quest “Korrak’s Revenge” during the anniversary event, you’ll receive one of two mounts: the Stormpike Battle Ram for Alliance or the Frostwolf Snarler for Horde.
During the anniversary celebration, the Korrak’s Revenge battleground will also feature an armory in the starting areas of each battleground in which you may wear PvP sets from expansions' past.
2Codex of Chromie
Return to the gates of Ahn’qiraj
Those who’ve been with World of Warcraft for the greater part of its 20 year history probably remember the chaos in Silithus during the opening of Ahn’qiraj, a 40-man raid from the days of the classic era. The 20th anniversary event brings us back to that time.
World Of Warcraft: 8 New Pets In The War Within And How To Get Them
Battle pets are World of Warcraft’s own little slice of Pokémon and, whether you love them or hate them, there are new ones to collect.
Through the “Codex of Chromie” scenario, you’ll be asked to go back in time and help displace enemies from the sands of Silithus. The scenario is intended for 10 to 20 players and will be available via the group finder starting at level 15.
1New Classes for Dracthyr
The anniversary event update will bring with it new classes for the Dracthyr, a dragonic race introduced during the game’s 10th expansion. Dracthyr have been restricted to one class – Evokers – since the release of Dragonflight, so this update is the first time we’ll be able to explore other classes with them.
Blizzard has confirmed that the anniversary update will allow Dracthyrs to be created as Hunters, Rogues, Priests, Mages, Warriors and Warlocks. In addition to the new classes, there’s an added feature coming specifically for Dracthyr Priests: In Dragon form, Dracthyr will have unique wing visuals for Dark Ascension, Apotheosis and Ultimate Penitence.
