Before facing General Kwanda, verify the Hero has full HP and is wearing the best defensive armor and accessories available. Also, raise his weapon level as needed.

How to Unlock
Defeat theDragon boss enemy. Then, reach the top of Pannu Yakuta Castle.
Winning the duel against Kwanda allows the Hero to recruit him as a Stars of Destiny character and party member. Make sure to choose the correct dialogue choices and don’t allow him to get executed in the main story.

Duel Battle #2: Teo McDohl
The second one-on-one battle in Suikoden 1 will feature amatch against General Teo McDohl.Take control of Pahn and pick the correct battle move to defeat him in a duel.Below are Teo McDohl’s enemy dialogue prompts from both the original and the remastered version.
Same as the Hero, make sure the Pahn has full HP and is wearing the best defensive equipment available in your party, such as Ninja Garb or Guard Rings. Also, upgrade his weapon level to up to level 12.

Level 30 or higher.
Near Toran Lake Castle Headquarters (Chapter 6: A Fated Encounter)
Survive “Final Battle Against Teo McDohl”. Then, wait forPahn to hold off General Teo’s army.
If Pahn loses this duel against General Teo, he will permanently die in the game. This will not unlock the Suikoden 1’s best ending. verify to save your progress.

Ten Rematch Duel Information
Level 36 or higher.
Win “Final Battle Against Teo McDohl”. Then, challenge General Teo in a duel.
Winning the duel against General Teo allows the Hero to recruit Alen and Glenshiel as Stars of Destiny characters and party members. Also, defeating him will unlock the Hero’s Soul Eater Tier 3 rune spell, Hell.
