Players can increase their character’s parameters by unlocking bonus factors inDragon CoresinDragon Star Varnir, naturally leveling them through battle, and by giving them equipment. The following data was taken with no equipment and at level 33 which is 1/3 of the max level. There will be a small variance as Bonus Factor upgrades were included but as an overall guide on how to develop your party, it shouldn’t hinder it.
Minessa’s high SP, magic attack, and speed makes her a good choice to be in your primary party. Her water attribute helps her resist fire attacks fromDragons. Make sure you learn a magic skill of each element (attribute) and some support skills to strengthen your party. Her high speed allows her to set up support skills like increase defenses for your team which helps mitigate the your fragile party will take.
For boss fights, I recommend a healing skill, and once you get far in the story a revive skill.Big Healingis an easy heal skill everyone can learn. Later it can be replaced withHeal Party, a slightly weaker healing skill but will affect all allies rather than single target. The last 3 slots should be used for the boss weakness and 2 support skills. I personally use a increase defense and magic defense skill calledUnbreakable. If you may time it right,Power Storewill be an immense asset to use. It causes a character to deal double damage next turn; if players time it so theyDragon Awakeon the next turn as well, they will deal tremendous damage.
At Level 33:
I tend to have Laponette on support and I neglect to devour Dragons with her. With only the Story Boss Dragons devoured she lacks some extra points in her stats. All you really need is to have support skills for her so she can defend and counter attack more often. Make sure to give her equipment that increases her attack power as this determines her damage dealt.
Zephy with his high speed will be a good attacker in your party. You can teach him several physical skills and magic skills to fully utilize his moderately high attack and magic attack.

Karikaro is my favorite damage dealer as her large magic attack will solidify her spot on your main party. She is balanced out by having sub par speed so it best to set up heighten defenses with one of your other team members, so you don’t waste Karikaro’s turn to heal herself.
I like to also play it safe and give her revive as well healing skills to ensure my party is always alive and dealing damage. A Dragon Awakened Karikaro will melt through bosses even on Hard mode so treat her well!
