Dragon Age: The Veilguard Co-Director Exits BioWare
The news was shared byJeff Grubb, who noted that Busche’s decision to leave was unrelated to the commercial performance ofDragon Age: The Veilguard, which does not appear to have been a success. Throughout her time at EA and BioWare, Busche held several key roles in major projects, including her prior involvement withThe Sims franchise.
Corrine Busch, director of Dragon Age, really is leaving BioWare. But I don’t think EA is closing BioWare Edmonton. Was told there is nothing solid about that part of the rumor.— Grubb (@JeffGrubb)August 22, 2025

After a challenging development process that included some restarts, Busche took on the role of director forDragon Age: The Veilguardin 2022, alongside creative director John Epler. Together, they shaped the game as it exists today—a new direction for the Dragon Age franchise, focusing on fresh narrative dynamics and a more action-oriented approach.
Shortly after its release, rumors surfaced about a potential closure of BioWare’s main studio in Edmonton. However, Grubb debunked these claims, stating there is currently no evidence to support them. Busche’s departure, nonetheless, adds to a series of recent changes at BioWare, including other notable exits and restructuring within the development teams.

A Vision for the Franchise’s Future
As recently as last month, Busche shared her thoughts on the future of theDragon Ageseries. Among the areas she was interested in exploring were the mysteries of the Qunari, uncharted territories beyond Thedas’ seas, the enigmatic Titans, and the cultural evolution of the dwarves. For now, her future plans remain unknown.
As mentioned earlier,Dragon Age: The Veilguarddoes not seem to have been a hit, ranking 67th among best-selling games. To determine whether it was a failure, sales figures, budget, and EA’s expectations for the project would need to be considered. Released ten years after Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014), the franchise’s future is currently uncertain.
