Bandai Namco has shared a new trailer forDigimon Story Time Strangerduring the State of Play presentation. Besides giving us a glimpse at the story elements and gameplay, the video reveals that the turn-based RPG is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) on October 3.
Welcome to a New Version of the Digital World
Digimon Story Time Stranger is the latest entry inBandai Namco’s multimedia franchise of digital monsters, which was initiated back in 1997 as virtual pets. The game is part of the lineup of turn-based RPGs that started on the DS with Digimon World DS (in Japan, Digimon Story) and had its latest installment in Cyber Sleuth: Hacker’s Memory back in 2017.
Review: Digimon Survive
Digimon Survive is a worthwhile adventure for those looking for a strong story, but expect things to move slowly and not much actual gameplay.
The concept of these games revolves around gathering digital data on enemies and building your own party based on that. All of them also feature a digital farm where players can leave some of their partners for training while advancing through the story.

In Digimon Story Time Stranger, we get to explore “Digital World: Iliad” and the human world as an agent of a secret organization called ADAMAS, having over 450 creatures as partner options. One interesting aspect is that Iliad is different from previous depictions of the digital world as it’s run on the central computer Homeros instead of Yggdrasil. Its lore should also give us a bigger emphasis on the Olympos XII group composed of creatures based on the Dii Consentes, the Roman version of the Greek gods.
As either the male or female versions of the protagonist, you’ll have to travel through time and the parallel worlds to deal with strange anomalies. During your first contact with them, you’re sent back in time to 8 years prior to your current life and have to prevent the collapse of the world.

The video teases some of the story elements, such as a mysterious egg that seems to be very important and the world tree being attacked. In the video, it’s possible to see catastrophic situations and giant creatures, including not only Digimon but a mysterious new individual somewhat reminiscent of the Eaters in Cyber Sleuth.
The Packs for the Collectors
Bandai has also revealed the various editions and pre-order bonuses for the game. The most basic option is the standard edition, which will be available physically and digitally and includes a special uniform costume, the black versions of Agumon and Gabumon, and an adventure item set.
Meanwhile, Digital Deluxe also includes Cyber Sleuth costumes and a season pass with a Golden Moai for the farm, extra Digimon and story episodes. On top of those bonuses, the Ultimate Edition adds an early unlock of a special version of Agumon and Gabumon, 12 new costumes (3 for each of the main characters), 3 side missions, a Public Safety suit costume set, Cyber Sleuth tracks and even more items through the Special Supplies set.

For those who prefer buying their game at retail, there are Ultimate Retail and Collector’s editions. These will also include cards for the Digimon Card Game, with the Collector’s version not only having even more exclusives of these collectible items but also featuring an artbook with 100 pages and a figurine of Jupitermon: Wrath Mode.
