Over the past decade, the superhero genre has dominated the film industry, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and DC Extended Universe (DCEU now DCU) leading the charge. But both of the universes had to face some real failure in the last year. MCU’s Chris Hemsworth starrerThor: Love and Thunderand DCU’s Dwayne Johnson starrerBlack Adam; both the movies were not received well by fans.

Many believed that both movies were flops. But as per the recent reports neither of the films was a flop as they both managed to drive profits to the pockets of their makers. But it looks like even in this scenario, MCU took over DCU as Chris Hemsworth starrerThor: Love and Thunderwas able to generate much more than the DCU’sBlack Adam.

Chris Hemsworth’sThor: Love and ThunderIs Definitely A Hit
As per recent reportsThor: Love and Thunderperformed pretty well at the box office.Thor: Love and Thunderbrought in a whopping $760.9 million at the global box office, with $343.2 million in the US and $417.6 million internationally. While this is a decrease from the $855 million thatThor: Ragnarokpulled in, it’s worth noting thatThor: Love and Thundermissed out on the Chinese and Russian markets, whereRagnarokgrossed a total of $135.9 million.
Many assumed thatChris Hemsworth’sThor: Love and Thunderis a failure because it has the second lowest rating among MCU movies. If we compare the production cost ofThor 4with its earnings, then, it’s estimated that the movie generated a profit of around $103 million. So, it was not a flop, and in fact, it did quite well. If only the movie would have been released in China and Russia, it would have oversold its predecessors.

Dwayne Johnson’sBlack AdamLacked Behind Chris Hemsworth’sThor: Love and Thunder
Dwayne Johnson’s dream projectBlack Adamhas failed to impress the audience, and the earnings of the films were not stated clearly prior. But as per the reports,Black Adamtoo is away from the tag of being a flop, as the movie was able to gross profits worth $52 million to $72 million. But if you compare these reported profits with MCU’sThor 4, then it’s evident thatThor 4has done significantly better thanBlack Adam. Fans on the other hand seemed pretty convinced thatBlack Adamis a financial disaster.
Now,#BlackAdammay never break even. China was WBDs last hope to prevent a financial disaster.

Yet DC movies keep flopping at the box office. Black Adam was a massive financial box office disaster and it had the rock saying they were babies and nobody knew black Adam. lmao DC will never reach Marvel’s popularity lmao.

A movie called#BlackAdamcould lose up to 150M $, possibly one of the biggest financial disasters in Hollywood history. And that’s despite the fact it still has earned 400M $. Insane.https://t.co/jEwIvVLtiL

At least half of these won’t make it out of production. This is just something shiny to wave in front of us to boost stocks. WBD financial disaster hasn’t improved at all since last year when they were lucky to even afford releasing black Adam. They don’t have the money to do ithttps://t.co/Z54ZqnL5se

Despite the proof that both the movies are financial successes, it still does not change the fact that both of them failed to deliver an impact on the audience, but even in these bad times MCU is better than DCU. It is evident that MCU movies are performing better than DCU movies at the box office.Thor: Love and Thunderis currently available on Disney +.
