An easily forgotten friend in the form of a Bing Bong plush is easily found at the start of every run in PEAK. Basically a useless cartoonish friend for a cartoonish climbingsimulator, carrying this glorious burden all the way to the end earns you not just the satisfaction of saving a literally unthinking toy, but also that toy’s namesake Bing Bong Badge.

The Basics of the Bing Bong Badge

The Bing Bong Badge is earned by an entire team when one of the surviving players that escapes on the rescue helicopter at the end of the final climb leaves with Bing Bong either in their immediate inventory or in a backpack they’re wearing/carrying.

Bing Bong is a funny-looking doll that always spawns inside one of the two halfs of the plane that you’re able to find on the Shore, right when you start the game. It is basically just a joke, with no real purpose. Its only real practical use is as something you can throw to knock items down or hit hazards, but that’s true of basically every item in the game. Essentially, earning the Bing Bong Badge means your team must get a useless item all the way to the end of the game.

How to Get the Foraging Badge in PEAK

Learn how to get the Foraging Bade in PEAK, a beginner-friendly challenge that lets you unlock a fun new face.

This badge is pretty difficult to get, less because it adds all that extreme of a challenge over the normal game, and more because it requires that you reach the end of a PEAK run, which isrelatively tough.

Earning the Bing Bong Badge earns you a propeller hat, much like the one Bing Bong wears. It also earns you an achievement on Steam.

The Base Game, But Slightly Harder

As long as somebody is carrying Bing Bong (including in a backpack) and gets on the rescue helicopter, everyone on the team, living or dead, earns the Bing Bong Badge.

Bing Bong isn’t extremely heavy, but he does take up an inventory slot. There is also only one available in a single run, so if you lose Bing Bong at any point, you cannot earn the badge unless you recover Bing Bong from wherever he’s dropped.

In essence, this badge means you need to beat the game while carrying a mild burden. The hardest part is keeping track of Bing Bong and making sure to recover him if his bearer dies. Putting Bing Bong in a backpack often makes this easier, as it’s less likely to roll away if the person carrying him dies and will have a significantly larger profile (making it easier to spot), as the backpack is obviously larger than Bing Bong alone.

Final Advice

The Bing Bong Badge doesn’t make PEAKmuchharder than the normal experience, so it’s often good to passively try for the Bing Bong Badge if you’re already going to try to get to the end, at least if somebody on the team doesn’t have the badge. At the very least, you’re able to carry Bing Bong in the first backpack you find (one is always available near the crash site) and only replace him if you find an item that you think you really need.

Once you think you would actually benefit from swapping out Bing Bong with a better item or somebody drops the doll due to dying, then you can finally decide if it’s worth trying to push through and go for the badge. Whereas something like theMycology Badgeisn’t too hard to get but is best targeted early, the Bing Bong Badge doesn’t require much planning ahead as long as you don’t lose the doll (despite the actual badge being harder to get, because you need to reach the end).

Because you need to reach the end with Bing Bong, this is definitely a badge where you should consider lowering the difficulty below the default to Tenderfoot (at least if you’re struggling). This will make the overall climb easier. You should also mention you’d like to get the Bing Bong Badge to your team, because it’s obviously much easier if a team is working together and multiple people are willing to pick up the doll when its bearer dies or otherwise can’t carry it.
