Each week, a new Ascendant Challenge is featured inDestiny 2, bringing a new challenge for you to overcome to claim the rewards on offer.
Ascendant Challenges are weekly activities that involve platforming and provide a range of rewards specific to The Dreaming City. Completing these is required to unlock the Cursebreaker title and to finish several triumphs, making them a must for newbies and veterans alike.
However, their locations aren’t well explained in-game, so here’s this week’s Ascendant Challenge, as well as the full rotation and available rewards forEpisode Heresy.
What is the Ascendant Challenge in Destiny 2 this week?
This week’s Ascendant Challenge is theAgonarch Abyss, which will remain featured until the nextweekly reseton July 30, 2025.
It’s worth noting thatas of The Edge of Fate’s release on July 11, 2025, Ascendant Challenges no longer reward pinnacle or powerful gear drops. You can, however, still obtain Dreaming City weapons by completing the activity.
Before starting an Ascendant Challenge, you’ll need to gain theAscendance buffto reveal the entry portal. To do so,drink a Tincture of Queensfoilto reveal its whereabouts. Do note that some Ascendant Challenges require some light platforming to reach them, as is the case for the Forfeit Shrine.

How to complete Agonarch Abyss
The Agonarch Abyss Ascendant Challenge requires you to reach a central room bathed in Light. To get there, you’ll need to traverse a series of tricky platforming sections and avoid enemy fire. If you get lost, look for Toland – the glowing ball of Taken energy – who will guide you to the correct location.
