The main grind ofThe First Descendantinvolves farming and openingAmorphous Material, which are essentially loot boxes that can drop upgrade materials and rare resources used tounlock new characters. The system can be confusing at first, but you’ll eventually get the hang of it and learn which numbers you need to farm.

What is an AA Amorphous Material Pattern in The First Descendant?

AA Amorphous Materials work similarly to regular ones but with a few notable differences. The AA part of the name means the Materials were added post-launch.

At the time of writing, these Materialsall contain parts for Ultimate Valby or Luna, who are both new Descendants.

Oddly enough, theseAA Amorphous Materials have replaced some regular Materialswith the same number. This change can be a little confusing, as the game still displays old Amorphous Materials on the Access Info page.

On the plus side, if you own any defunct Amorphous Materials, you can still open them as usual, even if they are technically unavailable in the game.

The Best Amorphous Materials For Energy Activator Blueprints

Opening Amorphous Materials is the only way to obtain Energy Activators outside a couple of freebies. TheseEnergy Activators are essential in unlocking your Descendant’s full potential, as they increase your Module Capacity by 20.

Many Amorphous Materials have a slight chance of rewarding you with an Energy Activator, butsome are easier to farm than others. With this in mind, here are the best Amorphous Materials to grind for those coveted Activators.

Amorphous Material 002

002 is, hands down, the best Amorphous Material to grind for Energy Activators. You can collect the Material from theNormal Magister Lab with a 100% Drop Rate. As the mission is on normal difficulty, you can complete it within 3 minutes, and it’seven faster if you have a Bunny on the team.

You canopen Amorphous Material 002 by defeating the Grave WalkerCollosi. If you have a Descendant with level 100 gear, you should be able to beat the boss within 5 seconds. I recommend queueing for the Interception solo, as there’s no waiting time before or after the battle.

The Energy Activator only hasa 3% drop rate, but you’re able to quickly amass many Materials and open them without hassle.

Amorphous Material 083

You needFreyna and Sharen unlockedfor this Material, but they are worth it, especially if you’re sick of the Magister’s Lab. Head to theDerelict Covert in Hard Mode Echo Swampand the Vulgus Strategic Outpost nearby.

You can use Sharen for a shot at Amorphous Material 083. I usually wait until I have five before the next step.

Use the Void Reactor nearby with Freyna once you’ve collected a few Amorphous Materials.

Enemy density at this Reactor was buffedpost-launch, and you’ll quickly reach the kill quota for the required Shards. Void Shard amounts have also been dramatically buffed for Season 1, anda single Void Reactor run is all you need to open the Material.

You can beat the Boss in the cave near the Outpost to open the Material with a6% drop rate for Energy Activators. The odds are still heavily stacked against you, but it’s double the chance compared to the Magister Lab route.

Energy Activator farming is a drag, but you’ll absolutely want them if you’regoing for any Ultimate Descendants.
